Combining stimuli-responsive hydrogels and scaffold-supported microbial biofilms for a self-controlled catalytic activity of a microbial leaf
Malabika Bera and Lara Heiser, both PhD students at the University of Leipzig – Malabika in Rohan Karande’s group and Lara in Tilo Pompe’s group – report on progress in their joint SPP 2451-funded project. The work focuses on integrating stimuli-responsive hydrogels with scaffold-supported microbial biofilms to create a self-regulated “microbial leaf” capable of autonomous catalytic activity.
